A unique example of rare interference Quartz, also known as shift Quartz. Interfence Quartz happens for one of two reasons: extreme pressure and/or temperature changes that forces the crystals growth to stop and start again numerous times -or- a secondary mineral forming on the Quartz crystals that later dissolves; both of which circumstances leave us with a crystal that looks like its been cut into with a saw.
This beautiful specimen exhibits multiple intricate interference crystals on a bed of sparkling specular hematite. There are many micro quartz crystals over the hematite giving the piece an all over 'bedazzled' look.
