Absolutely incredible, collector's grade, rare 'Nirvana' or 'Ice' Etched Himalayan Quartz.
Etched/ Nirvana Quartz displays a rare occurrence known as 'interference growth'. For this to be achieved, the growth process of the crystal has to be interrupted, then resumed hundreds of times as a result of intense pressure or temperature changes. Nirvana Quartz if also frequently called 'Glacier Quartz' or 'Ice Quartz' as it's speculated that these interferences were caused by glaciers carving through the Himalayas.
This specimen is an incredibly high quality example of the 'Nirvana' formations, with intricate etching on almost all sides. Accents of Anatase crystals add even more interest. This piece is in great condition for its size. A spectacular example of natures artistry and guaranteed to be the highlight of any collection.
Himalayan Quartz: Himalayan (Samadhi) Quartz has long been some of the most desirable Quartz in the world for its beauty and difficulty to obtain. This variety of Quartz is mined by hand along the Himalayan mountain range, at elevations of 14,000-18,000 feet. No machinery can make the trek, so pieces are mined by hand with small tools that can be carried up in a back pack, and then carried back down (a multiple day hike) by the miners. It is claimed to be one of the highest vibrational crystals due the the high altitudes in which it forms.
